I want to enjoy reading again
I want to read a work of fiction again. It has been so long. Perhaps I should admit that the reason I havent gotten into a book for so long is that I have been too hung up on reading the “classics.” I know most people hate the idea that they are “supposed” to read anything, but to be honest I’ve always kind of bought into it. Testing out of my college English requirements was probably one of the worst decisions of my college career. As much as I hated discussing books in high school, at least having the class made me read them. It wasn’t neccessary for the books that caught me on page one, but there were plenty that I wouldn’t have had the discipline to read on my own, but which I was glad to have finished once I was through. So really, all I want is to experience now is the feeling I had before highschool, before I ever felt the pressure to read joyce or faulkner. I want to need to know how the chapter ends, and then the next one, and the next, until you look at the the time and it is 4 AM on a school night, but the reason you finally convince yourself to put the book down is not because you need sleep, but because you want there to be a little left to read the next day, so you can make it last just that extra bit. What should I read?
