Whopper of an ad campaign

In a simultaneously brilliant and revolting new ad campaign, Burger King has paired with Facebook to promote their new “Angry Whopper” resulting in the Whopper Sacrifice application:

The premise is simply that you defriend 10 people in order to get a coupon for a free whopper.  The catch is that these people will be notified that you value a hamburger over their online friendship. The first question that immediately came to my mind, as I am sure comes to yours was “Can’t I just refriend those people immediately afterwards?”  The answer, judging by the hundred or so new Facebook groups premised on friending people you don’t know in order to promtly defriend them for a 1/4 lb. of meat, and in turn allow them to do the same to you, is yes, yes you can.  The ticker on the Whopper Sacrifice website at the time of this posting claims that 229,553 friends have already been sacrificed, of course working out to 22,955.3 free burgers distributed or waiting to be claimed.  God bless America.

Seriously though, what do you think?
